A Bridoon is a single or double jointed bit designed to be used on a double bridle with a Weymouth. The Bridoon sits above the Weymouth in the horse's mouth. It regulates lateral flexion, as the branches work independently.
The Eggbutt Bridoon's rings are smaller than a standard Eggbutt's rings, so that the rings do not interfere with the Weymouth. The Eggbutt cheekpiece prevents pinching of the lips and gives a slightly more solid feel against the side of the face. It also prevents the bit being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower than the Loose Ring Bridoon and also introduces some poll pressure.
The Elliptical is a double jointed bit, with a lozenge in the middle.
The Elliptical link in the centre is 38mm which is slightly smaller than the standard Elliptical link. This takes some of the pressure off the tongue and places it on the bars encouraging the horse to lift his head, while the lozenge encourages the horse to come towards the vertical.
